Flight Instruction

Ben has been an avid member of the aviation community for his whole life. He loves to fly and will use about any excuse to get in the air! Ben holds a Commercial Certificate for Airplane Single Engine Land, Airplane Multiengine Land, and Instrument-Airplane. Beyond his Flight Instructor Certificate (Airplane Single Engine, Airplane Multiengine, Instrument-Airplane), he furthered his aviation teaching ability by also getting a Ground Instructor Certificate (Advanced & Instrument ratings).

*Note: Ben does not currently provide aircraft for flight events. The student must be able to provide the aircraft. Instrument time does not carry any additional charge: just what is on the pricing section.

  • Flight Instruction: $50/flight hour

    Flight Review: $200 (+$50/flight hour over 1.5)

    IPC: $250 (+$50/flight hour over 1.5)

  • Flight Instruction: $60/flight hour

    Flight Review: $250 (+$60/flight hour over 1.5)

    IPC: $300 (+$60/flight hour over 1.5)

    *Note: Training towards a NEW certificate/rating only in PA-44-180 Piper Seminole. General instruction, Flight Reviews, & IPCs can be in any AMEL.

  • Transition training and sign-off to act as PIC of a complex airplane (retractable gear, controllable-pitch propeller, and flaps).

    What’s Covered
    • Ground: Systems, performance, and emergency procedures
    • Flight: Gear and prop operation, configuration changes, and abnormal procedures
    • Endorsement: Issued upon proficiency demonstration

    Typical Training Time

    • 1–2 hrs ground instruction

    • 3–6 hrs flight instruction

    Pricing

    • Hourly rates above (plus $45/ground hour)

    • $300 flat (Guaranteed 2 hours ground and 5 hours flight. Extra time needed billed at regular hourly).

  • Airport 25-50mi from KYIP: $0.50/mi roundtrip + $20

    Minimum charge for airports > 25mi from KYIP: 2 hours (even if not all 2 was logged)

    Airport >50mi from KYIP: Please ask

    Cancellation <24 hrs notice: 1 hour charge (weather/maintenance exempt)

    Ground Instruction: If more than 30 minutes of debriefing accompanies a flight, Ground Instruction will be charged as well at $45/hr.

  • Flight Reviews, IPCs, and endorsements are full evaluation events — not just “lessons.” Flat pricing reflects the total time spent on planning, briefing, paperwork, and endorsements so your total cost remains predictable. You receive a complete, no-surprises experience focused on quality and safety.
